What are the types of copper wire?

Sep 20, 2024 Company news, Product news

Enamelled copper wire
Enamelled copper wire (ECW) is coated with an enamelled coating to make it more resistant to corrosion. Some coated copper wires, such as enamelled wires, have an insulating layer between the outer coating and the conductor itself. Some enamelled wires may also contain steel wires inside, providing greater strength and flexibility. This type of wire is often used in industrial applications where durability is key.
Coated copper wire
Coated copper wire (CCW) is covered with a coating that gives it greater corrosion resistance. The coating may include a tin-plated or phosphor bronze coating. Copper wire can also be coated with plastic or vinyl to make it more flexible. This allows it to maintain its electrical properties at high temperatures.
Tinned copper wire
Tinned copper wire (TCW) is covered with a tin coating to prevent corrosion. The tinned copper wire is coated with a thin layer of tin to prevent oxygen from oxidizing with the metal. This makes welding easier because oxides are prevented from forming during the welding process and protects against corrosion after installation.
Uncoated copper wire
Uncoated or exposed copper wire does not have any protective coating and is prone to oxidation when exposed to air or water. This makes it generally unsuitable for use outdoors or in places where high humidity environments exist.
